WELCOME TO PROVIDENCE ACADEMY PTA!

The PTA is a group of parents who support our teachers, students and families, and are dedicated to building community within our school! We are honored to serve our school, and seek to bring our Providence family together through a variety of events and programs.

Throughout the year, we have many social events to promote our school spirit; these fun events provide a chance for us to gather, have fun, make memories and build our community. We also have opportunity to serve our families and our community through things like our casserole patrol, food drives, Operation Christmas Child and many other events. And, as the Providence Academy PTA, we have the privilege to help build our Christian community and pray for our teachers, staff, students and families.

How Does it Work?

The PTA budget is funded by an Activity Fee, per family. The PTA meets once a month, Thursday mornings from 8:30 – 9:30 am in Room 523. During these meetings, we inform all parents of the activities being planned and other upcoming events. A list of the meeting dates, and the dates for our other events, are listed on the website as well. Please mark your calendar and plan to join us! We welcome your input and we are always excited to have new volunteers!

When you become involved with the PTA, you will help foster our strong sense of community and have a direct role in enriching the life of our entire school family.

Please explore our webpage to find out more – click on the tabs for a full list of committee members, events, budget and our parent code of conduct.

We look forward to serving with you!

COMMITTEES

The Providence Academy PTA is led by a group of amazing volunteers. Please read all about our committees and see if there is a place you would like to get involved! If not, tell us your ideas and share your passions – we always welcome new members and new ways to build our community! If you are a parent at Providence Academy, you are a member of the PTA – all are welcome!

2018-2019 COMMITTEES

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The PTA Executive Committee consists of the President, President Elect, Treasurer and Secretary. Members of the Executive Committee must be elected by the PTA and approved by the Board of Directors. The Executive Committee is made up of those who profess their belief in Jesus Christ and have committed to actively praying for our students, staff and school (Colossians 4:2). The Executive Committee for this school year is:

President– Catherine Alexandrow
President Elect– Brittany Fleming
Treasurer– Isabel Mayer
Secretary– Kelly Wivell

FELLOWSHIP:
Fellowship works to support the teachers and staff by delivering monthly pick-me-ups and planning special teacher events such as a back to school lunch, a Christmas party, and a teacher appreciation luncheon. This is a fun way to show our love for our teachers!

ROOM MOM COORDINATOR:
The Room Mom Coordinator serves as the liaison between the class families and the school – supporting the PTA in its mission to maintain clear communication and provide the Room Moms/Dads with pertinent and relevant information.

SOCIAL COORDINATOR:
The Social Coordinator plans several fun events throughout the year including, a fall social event, Donuts with Dads, Muffins with Moms, BINGO and a last day of school party. These events are created to bring our families together, to have fun and to build our community!

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR:
This position works with teachers, staff and others on the PTA to coordinate all our social and volunteer activities. The Volunteer Coordinator typically develops the sign-up-genius for all events requiring registration or volunteers. It’s a great way to support our activities and make volunteering fun and easy!

FUNDRAISING:
Fundraising is a part of Providence Academy, and there are several areas the PTA support the fundraising efforts for our wonderful school! The PTA helps with the Scholastic Book Fair (always a favorite week of the year!), Box Tops, store cards (connecting your Harris Teeter and Amazon accounts to Providence for cash back rewards), and planning school-wide spirit nights!

CASSEROLE PATROL:
Casserole Patrol gives the PTA an opportunity to serve. This committee provides meals and other support for families that may have a need arise during the year. It is one way the PTA has the opportunity to help “bear one another’s burdens” (Galatians 2:6)

UPPER SCHOOL LIAISON:
The US Liaison ensures communication between the PTA and Upper School, and helps the PTA determine the best way to support Upper School students, teachers and events.

CHRISTIAN OUTREACH:
An important part of PTA is helping to build our community through our faith. Christian Outreach includes Moms-in-Prayer, which meets twice a month. Over the course of the year, Christian Outreach prays for every student, teacher and staff member by name. Christian Outreach also brings local and global outreach programs to our school, so our students can learn of The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) and have the privilege of giving to those in need (Proverbs 19:17)

ASSEMBLIES:
Each year, the PTA hosts school-wide assemblies. This committee works with the teachers and staff to select the assemblies, which are designed to be entertaining and educational for all the students. Assemblies are optional.

MOTHER SON/FATHER DAUGHTER EVENTS:

A committee to plan two special events during the year – a mother/son event and a father /daughter event (and it can even be a mother/daughter or father/son event!) …it’s just a way to plan a special time with family and Providence friends!

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES:
There are several great activities and clubs at Providence Academy that are not lead by the PTA, but we support throughout the year. Be sure to get involved with:

  • Veteran’s Day
  • Grandparents Day
  • Thanksgiving Feast
